Notification - The two concerts, the Last Night and Festival were very close this year. Instead of both all the available resources have been pooled into a Major Royal Albert Hall style Festival of Remembrance. The format will follow a narration prepared by the Director of Music, Mike Farrer.
The narration remembers especially the timeline of the Normandy Landings and Operation Market Garden & the roles played by our local Regiment.
As always all the music will be live with Timpanist, Organ and hopefully singers and choirs to make this a really Spectacular Event.
We look forward to welcoming everyone, especially the Royal British Legion & representatives of all branches of armed services for this special event.
It is hoped there will be at least some radio and television coverage in our advertising if not the event itself.
UPDATE WITH A FEW RECORDINGS OF PRACTICE SESSIONS
Its been a while since we had an update - so here are a few recordings of practice sessions - recorded on my mobile phone - not a true representation of the Instrument at all - however - GREAT to be back !!!!! We believe there may be some recordings of earlier concerts we can upload onto the site to watch this space !!!
An early run through the RAF March Past - a way to go !!!!
A Fantastic Piece of the Music - The Royal British Legion March

Some excellent feedback fro Professor Ian Tracey (Liverpool Cathedral) on the Radio Broadcast Piece when our Certification from BIOS was awarded.
Welcome to the United Reformed Church Whitehaven Music Page. You can find details of all our upcoming concerts, the history of the Fantastic Instrument we are so fortunate to have in the Church, our present Organist and how the regular concerts we enjoy came about. Please do explore the site as there is a wealth of information and concert and service recordings. As a major new addition to the site - Frank Bowler Director of Music in St Bees Priory has been a magnificent support and I'm delighted to include a St Bees page where we can get a glimpse of Franks work at St Bees. We hope you enjoy this page. Please do pass the site information onto friends and family who might like to join us at our concerts.
Aims of the Project and Concerts
The primary focus of our monthly concerts is to have fun, create enjoyment and provide a focal point to bring the community together; visitors to Whitehaven; Local Office Workers & Shoppers and Traders et al.. We try to provide a variety of music using the piano and voice as well as the magnificent instrument in the church. By providing a focal point for local musicians its is hoped over time the URC in Whitehaven will attract a variety of musicians to entertain what is always a very appreciative and welcoming audience. As a result of the concerts we are raising valuable funds to support the maintenance of the Instrument - more on that to come !!!
